Yellow Rose of Waikiki

Aloha,
This photo has no caption, yet viewers know enough symbols from their own experience to give this photo meaning. Great writers also use symbols to stimulate reader imagination. Let's ponder the idea of symbols as we write today.      Enjoy!

Genre: Jazz Pop

                      Camera Daze

One fell swoop grandiose swoon
See you back here by noon bring your balloon
You are so right about that point to a degree
Fight it out show your pedigree

Lower your fears go on a jilting
As hover gears do a little tilting
Like a first love with a slow glow
Cameras are ready get in the show

No fading go trading no kidding
Hedge with it if conditions permit
Where's my caveat are we there yet?
Looks like a good one neck and neck

Affection collection deeply conditional
Political phenom bring on collateral venom
Animation contamination or elimination
Drama steady and so camera ready

The usual candy counter candor
Taunt your detractors font for impactors
Tasty and queezy if you please
Love your maverick ways and camera daze

Smokey Road

Aloha,
This photo was shot in the morning light in Waikiki. Can you imagine the shadows as smoke? The contrast in light allows us to do this. Writers also use contrast to stimulate the imagination of their readers. Let's write using contrast today.               Enjoy!

                      Destination Desolation

The time is near for us to face this thorny question
By any other name can a rose still be a a rose?
This may be the time to raise a new suggestion
Put your hand in mine,  see if love shows

Could we have a little walk, take a little time to talk
Feel the rhymes of these fast changing times
Plan a destination , or are we already there
In the lonely world of explanation

Destination desolation ...  it has its own ring
Destination desolation ...  is that the song we sing?
What are the chances there will be no more dances
Give me a clue... enhance our enchantment

Some people will say they still like the math
Others say we're "gonna take a bath..."
Tell me it's not true, that's not what's in store
With what life we have, we can still fight for no more
Destination desolation

Rainbow Forest

Aloha,
The photo was taken at a beach hotel in Waikiki. This quiet parrot is a macaw whose dynamic color engages us in a visual way.
Great writing is "dynamic" when it engages our feelings, hearing, intuition, smell, intelligence, taste, and touch. Let's consider this idea as we write today.             Enjoy!

              How's It Going Over There?

How's it going over there you who are so far away
I guess things are OK or so you say
How's it going over there in your wild and blue
Have you finally gotten with it or has it gotten you?

Does anyone ever fake a dream
Stand in line for the next to scream?
Honor one who's not quite where it's at
Can we really do that?

How's it going over there you so tested by time
Still tasting the wine dally sublime
In your brain a little home on the range
Take life's lavish ride all apologies aside

It's fair to say love will come your way
Once you define it the heart of gold
Only you can mine it then be sold
Find someone who cares only then and there
Is it fair to ask "Hows it going over there?"

            There Being a Next Time

I'll play it pretty then I'll play it again
Bring in the beast to visit all my friends
Show my hand then let out a breath
I'll play it pretty you do the rest

Shake this joint with rattle and rhyme
Meet up again somewhere down the line
Local folk follow me in a great big line
I'm getting myself used to there being a next time

Recovery discovery get me off the shelf
I'm going to be a good friend to myself
Try to play it pretty try to make it shine
Get myself used to there being a next time

Flower Beach Song

Aloha!
I shot this on my way home.... the inspiration for today's lyric.

Genre: Jazz Pop

          Flower Beach Song

Though some light may
Naturally darken the view
When feelings have their say
Life remains true

Out now in the bright lights
The glitz the glamor the fame
Mothers and love still remain
Back home from where you came

Do the best tell the world
Your heartfelt little songs
Embrace the human race
Sing the world belongs

And now as the summer goes
So goes collective souls
Only the winter knows
How long yet thunder rolls

Eyes see clear into view
Desert sands ocean blue
Stars shine on the morning cool
Warm memories be the jewel

Wake those hearts
To a beautiful sway
Start up ramparts
Let dreams have their say

Distant streams float magic boats
Where dreams can honestly say
Together we made it
Nothing will fade it
Our little history along the way

Dream Beachboat

Aloha!
Here is a little inspirational tip from the Islands.
See something a little quirky, shoot it, then write your song.

                      My Little Plan
You should know
You should know I'm coming your way
Some day
That's all I can say
Yes that'll be
Me on your radio, I'll be  somebody you know
Make you dance, I welcome the chance
So fast I'll soon be, reach you softly
Gentle then furious,  make you curious
As I implement my little plan
You will come to understand, someday
Yes I'm gonna be
That thing that goes around
That little sound
That puts tears in the eye, empowers the shy,
Sets love on the fly, yes that little sound
That thing that goes around
The stream in the sand where lovers hold hands
That's my little plan
They drift and they float
In a little dream beachboat
Yes I'm coming your way, someday
That's all I can say
