Feather Vane

Aloha,
Here is a "morning light" photo showing vivid color. The detail of color is emotional here, but writers beware: Too much detail in fiction can become dull and boring. Overuse of detail is cliche. Let's avoid cliche today as we write.             Enjoy!

                 Ice Cream Aloha

Geek me here on this little beach
With thoughts of going beyond the reef
I select a few tunes strike up my bands
What else to do here on these white sands?

Don't need the bad press I'm warm here and cuddly
Not like the rest they act so fuddy-duddily
I compose and I send to my little friend
What I do next helps me contend
Ice cream aloha

I stay on this beach warm strong and demure
Through the weekend I casually endure
And where do I go where I feel secure?
Ice cream aloha

Escape be the artist relax from the poses
As eyes ingest the world's candy and roses
I wait here on the beach for all that it brings
Tides try to restore the natural order of things

And what's in store for beach architecture?
The geek in me says nothing's for sure
I know where to go to get my little cure
Ice cream aloha

Natural Pink

Aloha,
This flower caught my eye because of it's color and symmetry. It was a little windy that morning, but this little guy looked happy, healthy and focused, with Waikiki Beach just in the background. Writers also need focus and symmetry in their storytelling. A good screenplay is described as a "tight little story." Let's aim at that idea today.                Enjoy!

          Monday Star

Working under pressure
A nice way to dance
Driving a money car
From a place of innocence

Defenseless exposure
The lock of daily game
Whether deadly or not
Works out the pain

Never to hold back
And so needed where you are
Helplessness is no kicker
To be a Monday Star

               Rainbows Forever

There are rainbows with shades of blue
Where the rain goes they chase too
Destination danger allure lone ranger
Rainbows forever find you

Not the same with you not here
Pronto charms your flame so dear
In your precious time as you turn to shine
Rainbows caress your fears

Rainbows above and beyond carry blues
Follow the rain glow as they choose
Fly float high fathom the sky
Rainbows forever find you

Known you too well to let you go now
Alive with your smile as young lives allow
Bring your blues, reds and yellows too
Rainbows forever find you

Environment Architecture

Aloha,

This photo was shot on a sunny day in late morning. Notice the contrast between the cool shelter of the building and the exposure of the flowers to the bright sky. Writers can also "show" contrast in a lyric, phrase, or genre. Let's try that today.
                                                                                                                                     Enjoy!

 Nature's Hug

Her hug is a gift who's arms we depend
Through the march of time a constant friend
So steady her gift and so carefully planned
Will ever her berth go unmanned?

She started with love then reinvention
Ends with our final deficit attention
The time has come now we know
Nature is a hug given us slow

We still feel lucky with the love she brings
Even now through the thick and the thin of things
She's a hard act to follow even now through the haze
Nature's hug our first gift will last through our days

                  The Reef is Chief

Hawaiians of old so proud and so bold
Did life really end was someone so cold
Hawaiians of old have your stories been told?
Relics sold like some curio

Hawaiians of old with stories of gold
The reef is your chief with life it can hold
Alone by its hand from the waves to the land
Hawaiians of old the reef  is in command

The reef is the chief the maker of sand
Life of the land held in its hand
The reef is the chief who stands with such pride
Stems the tide holding the fury inside

Hawaiians of old, of faithful belief
Your story is gold the reef is the chief

                           Let Me Play

Feel the need feel the heat
Make me a possibility
Wanna go go get some
I'm not just any gun
Take a possession make concessions
Log on get it on
Don't mess with a goodbye kiss
Just let me play

I'm a speed burner a real head turner
A yardage churner I will move your chain
Prototypical tickle popsicle
Coin drain grease my brain end this pain
Just let me play

The wind at your back on a firm fairway
On a good day I make 'em pay
Don't need no rogue trainer that's a no brainer
I do four point three that makes me a possibility
Just let me play

Color Bloom

Aloha,

Writers try to be as colorful as possible, but sometimes it is just a matter of "timing." It is very important to keep a journal and write EVERYDAY so you can continually surprise yourself with little "discoveries." Then you will be pleasantly surprised when a piece of your writing comes into a full "color bloom," like a Bird of Paradise. I made my "discovery" of this little guy at just the right "time."         Enjoy!

                       The Heart of the View

The moment you soared you were one of the few
With a joy so contagious your smile into view
Clearly outrageous so much life left to do
You blast and you jump into the heart of the view

Restless hearts talk and promises before sailing the blue
So questless a start for a passionate few
Set sail keeping only uncharted water in view
Confiding in someone special like you

Out there in the heart of the view
Do your part see your way through
Wide worlds may wonder as you sail on the blue
Of heart's little thunder in the heart of the view

Down deep inside is your heart of a dream
That's the part of your story it's what makes you scream
It's the heart of the matter it's what makes you "you"
As you blast and you jump into the heart of the view

Genre: Jazz Blues

                         Just Now

A little lateral thinking, collateral drain
Couldn't we endure just a little more pain
Would you please leap, just a little sideways
A little outside of your, ingrained byways
As you pattern my image, spatter my spinach
Hey buddy does it really matter, my vintage?

Oh please don't simplify
I like those, complicated eyes
Someday I'll realize, how you...
Looked at me just now

There it is again, never knew where or when
But until then, I will endure and abide, somehow
Forever and a day, how you...
Looked at me just now

Surrealistic realism, bridges the schism
As you start to continue, you chisel my heart
I'll remember forever, and from now
When my last breath takes a bow, how you...
Looked at me just now

Hey buddy can you spare a dime?
Well OK maybe next time
Can you chime in later with some chow?
And then only then I may know, I'll make that show
On how you... looked at me, Just Now

                           Charm Yourself

So warm in your way, so charming your day
Are we really talking global?
No harm to say yes, they swarm I must confess
I must say, we do pay, day in and day out
What's that you say, expect and convey, a drought
Charm yourself out

Something out there, holds this thing together
So slight and fluffy, just like a feather
How is your father's father? And, what did Mother say?
Sooner or later, there's gonna' be love to pay
Nature will have her say, in this there can be no doubt, so
Charm yourself out

Comes a new day, let's all get together in our own way
By the way, how's the weather? Sonny, what's that you say?
Sunny and warm, that's what they say
The upcoming trend, just around the bend
Brings a new day, more on its way
Hey! I figured it out, here's what it's all about
Charm yourself out
